Schooling and Culture Residency- Open Session

July 3, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm BST

Schooling & Culture journal was a collaboration during the 70s and 80s between a group of radical left educationalists and young working class school students.
Since December 2014, convened by Russell Newell, the Schooling & Culture Working Group comprised of educators, artists, organisers and some of the original contributors, have been meeting to discuss the potential of reactivate the journal. The group have been collectively discussing what a new issue of the journal would look like, what would it be about, who would be involved and who would it be for?
To focus and extend from these initial discussions, the S&C Working Group are hosting a week of workshops, collective readings, meetings and a public event to open up the discussion, socialise and further activate the archive. The ambition of these meetings has been to explore the possibilities of producing a new issue in 2016.
In addition to these facilitated workshops the S&C Working Group are also keen to invite young people, educators, writers and artists who have an affinity with the journal, to look through the archive and develop content. Open sessions are planned at specific times and are free with no booking required. If you’re interested to join any of these please contact the working group – schoolingculture@gmail.com.
