40 years ago a group of young aerospace engineers were faced with crisis, austerity and the threat of their factory closing. Flying in the face of free market philosophy they responded with a radical plan, designing numerous socially useful and environmentally sustainable alternatives to the military products their company (Lucas Aerospace) made. A new film tells the story of how they turned the logic of production for corporate profit on its head.
We are delighted to be hosting the first screening of the full extended version of The Plan with film-maker Steve Sprung and shop steward from Lucas Aerospace Phil Asquith.
The Lucas Plan Archive is housed at MDR and available for viewing during our opening times.
