10th Floor

CSM. Charing Cross Road. London. 2009-2011

The 10th Floor was a radical educational initiative embedded within Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London between 2009-2011. Its methods of enquiry have come to inform MayDay Rooms: collaborative working, presentations, discussions and, crucially, a mode of learning based around direct access to un-sorted and neglected historical material that often falls into the general category of ‘pre-archival’. This process reached a point of articulation at In Exchange, a five week programme of events, discussion, student-led meetings and film screenings linked to mapping and presenting institutional and personal collections of historical material.
