AltMFA
May 22, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm BST
AltMFA is an alternative Master of Fine Art course established in 2010 by artists, for artists, as a free alternative to studying a university-based Masters in London.
As part of our programme on The Future, supported by A-N, artist and activist Rosalie Schweiker will be leading a workshop/conversation on her current project: teaching for people who prefer not to teach.
The workshop will be based on a project Rosalie is working on currently, together with the artist Mirjam Bayerdörfer and designer Margherita Huntley. It is a collection of ideas, exercises, resources for “zero-hours” teachers, the kind of teachers who never get a permanent contract and are on the forefront of Britains neoliberal education market. It’s also questioning the current modes of art teaching and introduce other attitudes and values, such as collectivity, humour, experimentation and invisible labour.
In line with her 2017 work policy (which states that whenever she is invited, she has to invite somebody else and share the fee with them), Rosalie has invited Margherita Huntley to join her in facilitating the session.
Rosalie Schweiker is an artist living in South London. Her 2017 work policy doesn’t allow her to give out bio blurbs.
