Reading the Enemies is a series of workshops where invited speakers present readings of their “enemies” – that is, texts or discourses that they deem to be in opposition to their own political premises. The workshops allow the attendants to engage head-on with the combative aspect of intellectual practice. While scholarly work normally tends to downplay, if not bracket, subjective positions, Reading the Enemies aims to bring such positions to the fore. Emphasising the oppositional aspect of theoretical and artistic work, these events bring the notion of enmity next to the practice of reading. These workshops are free and open to the public.
