This month’s session will be focused on the theme of incarceration. Eleanor Careless has kindly agreed to lead a discussion of Anna Mendelssohn’s poetry. We will focus on three poems by A.M.: ‘fusain’, ‘basalt’ and ‘the arrested poem’, but we have also selected three excerpts from reflections on prison by Angela Davis, Nawal El Saadawi, and Ulrike Meinhof.
