Over the next 6 months we will be collaborating with MayDay Radio on a series of audio commissions that use the MayDay Rooms archive as a starting point to create new works. We are excited to announce that the following projects have been selected:
Gazelle Mba will be working on a piece called WORK SONGS and will create an audio essay exploring the links between labour and music. Alejandro Van Zandt-Escobar and Ivan Robirosa will be creating an A-Z of ABOLITION, which chronicles the experience of incarceration corresponding with each letter of the alphabet. Scarlett Pimlott-Brown’s project PICKET, will look at strike action in its many recorded forms; from the Wapping Dispute to current rent strikes.
