Dhalgren is an 800-page work of radical science fiction that follows its amnesiac protagonist, The Kid, through an American city after an unspecified disaster. Described by Jonathan Lethem as “the city-book-labyrinth that has swallowed astonished readers alive”, Dhalgren has enraged and obsessed readers since its publication in 1975.
