As part of our recent pamphlet commission we will be running a irregular reading group around some of the focuses that came out of the open call. We hope that will help the pamphlet commission to develop in a collective way and open up the process to all those interested.
For this first session we will be also looking taking our queue from the editorial to the classic publication Politcs/Photography One edited by Jo Spence and Terry Dennet and looking at how working class practices of film and photography became an indispensable and important means of propaganda in class struggle. Starting with archive from the Film and Photography League (1923-1939), and reading Terry Dennet’s ‘Popular Photography and Labour Albums’.
We will be reading through the texts during the session but you can also find them at https://maydayrooms.org/downloads and if you’d like the look at them in advance.
